Amazingly important for the environment.

Organics do not decompose in the landfill. Rather, they gradually leak Methane, a green-house-gas that is 80-100 times more harmful to the environment than Carbon Dioxide. By keeping food waste out of the garbage methane production is avoided. However, composting also captures carbon from the atmosphere, reducing instead of contributing to greenhouse gas emissions!

Receive top quality compost for your garden.

Each spring, our high grade compost is returned to our customers and donated to local charities such as the youth centre and community gardens.

You’d be surprised how much of your waste is compostable. Even our customers who live alone often fill ½ to ¾ of a bucket per week.

If you aren’t sure if you’d fill a bucket alone, you might consider sharing a compost subscription with a neighbour. It’s a great way to build community.

Having a party or cleaning out your fridge, a one-time additional bucket is always free (just ask). We offer ongoing additional buckets for $10/month.

Backyard composting is great, but it comes with hassles…it needs to be turned, it can smell… In the winter, piles freeze and paths need to be shoveled to the bin in -40 weather (you forget). Also, backyard composting is not as good for the environment. This is because they typically exclude meat and bones, which, because they are so calorie dense, produce the most methane in the landfill. Subscribers of Just Good Compost can compost year-round, including meat and bones, with no hassles.

Yes, on Compost Day, customers can come and pick up fresh compost for their gardens.
